About & editor privacy

Made for Lucas. Shared for little imaginations everywhere.

Little Note Studio is an independent hobby project, not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by Vestaboard.

Painting, typing, editing and saving favourites work without AI. Your drawing stays in this browser while you edit. Saved favourites, parent settings and any keys you enter are stored in this browser, not in an online design library. They are not synced between devices and may be lost if browser data is cleared. Browser storage is not a secure key vault.

When you send a design, its tiles pass through this app's server to the configured Vestaboard API. Temporary messages may also read and hold the previous board design in server memory until restoration. Delivery is not guaranteed.

In-app dictation uses your browser's speech recognition and may send audio to its speech service. Optional AI features and reports have separate data handling, explained in the AI pilot section below.

Only enter keys on a connection and device you trust. The maths question is a child lock, not a secure login.

No board yet? You can still paint, type and save favourites. Add your board key to send designs.

Private AI pilot

For invited families, with a grown-up supervising. AI can get things wrong. Prompts and designs are processed by Anthropic; see About & privacy. Keep personal information out of prompts. This acknowledgement is not age verification.

AI privacy & limitations

AI-generated messages and artwork can be unexpected, inaccurate or inappropriate despite our safeguards. Please check the preview before sending. Filters cannot catch everything.

When you use AI, your prompt is sent through this app's server to Anthropic. Sparkle also sends the current design. Safety checks send your prompt, current design where relevant, and generated message text to that provider.

Invite sessions and usage allowances are saved on the server. AI usage logs record models, token counts, timings and errors, but exclude prompts, generated messages and API keys. Browser-supplied Anthropic keys are forwarded for the relevant request and are not saved in those logs.

Reporting an AI result saves a report on the server for manual review. Your prompt and designs are included only if you explicitly choose to share them.

AI uses your personal Anthropic key if provided, otherwise the organiser's shared key. Personal keys bypass shared usage allowances; Anthropic's own limits and charges still apply. Pilot access and safety checks are always required. Requests may use quota or incur charges, even if cancelled. Generation is not guaranteed.

For little creators: keep names, addresses and secrets out of your ideas.

Enable AI

Off by default. Painting, typing, editing, favourites and board sending work without AI. Enabling AI sends requests to Anthropic; please check that your use meets its terms.

Anthropic API key (optional)

Optional: use your own Anthropic key without shared daily or lifetime allowances. Your Anthropic account pays for generation and safety checks, and its own limits still apply. Leave blank to use the shared allowance. A rejected personal key never falls back to the shared key. New keys replace those saved on this device.
